5 Axis Machining

5 Axis Machining

Our CNC turning process produces custom prototypes and end-use production parts in as fast as 1 day. We use a CNC lathe with live tooling so features like axial and radial holes, flats, grooves, and slots can be machined.

What is Multi-axis Machining?

Multi-axis machining is a manufacturing process that involves tools that move in four or more directions. These tools are used to mill away excess material, water jet cutting, or laser cutting to make parts from metal or other materials. This type of processing was originally carried out mechanically on large and complex machines. These machines operate on 4, 5, 6, or even 12 shafts, which are individually controlled by levers placed on cam plates. The cam plate provides the ability to control the tool device, the workbench to fix the part, and to rotate the tool or part in the machine. Due to the size and complexity of the machines, it takes a lot of time to set up their production. [1] After the introduction of computer numerical control processing, it provides a faster and more effective method to process complex parts.
